Modern & Historic Features Meet in A Victorian Home in London
In my opinion modernizing a historic home have to be done with much care and consideration to the old building. I love historic buildings and it pains me if they are carelessly ‘remodeled’ or even destroyed. The details in these buildings are amazing and something you won’t find a lot in new buildings and I think we should preserve that for future generations. That doesn’t mean that there can’t be modern features in old homes at all, I think a combination of new & old (if done properly) can make a home even more beautiful. In this Victorian home in London the modern features that were put in during the recent renovation (the skylight and hanging garden) help bring in lots more natural light in the small and narrow rooms which make these rooms so much more pleasant. The narrow living room is opened up to create a natural flow to the modern ash-ply kitchen that also has a skylight and steel-framed doors to a small garden. Upstairs the look is more traditional but I love how the light falls into the landing through that skylight. It’s a beautiful remodel of an old Victorian home.
