A Bright Late Victorian Townhouse in London
This stylish three-bedroom house is located in a beautiful late Victorian townhouse in the Islington area of London. The house has been renovated by its current interior designer owner, creating stylish, light-filled, and open spaces.
The owners opted for a light, neutral color palette that highlights the architectural features and the material choices in the home. The internal spaces are divided over three floors, with a semi-open-plan living space on the first floor and the bedrooms on the second and third floors.

The entire first floor is home to the open-plan living space. It is bathed in natural light thanks to two large windows at the front and a glass door at the back by the kitchen.

The room has lovely high ceilings with beautiful, intricate cornices and mouldings. The walls are painted in a creamy white called ‘Galao I’ by Francesca’s Paint.
The sitting area is centered around a reclaimed Derbyshire fossil chimneypiece.

Behind the sofa is space for a large dining table. The owners opted for subtle color accents in the textures, like the teal-green blinds and the striped red dining chairs.

A wide doorway connects the sitting room with the kitchen.

The kitchen is elegant and minimalistic with white cabinets topped with a mottled green ‘Verde Antigua’ marble countertop and backsplash, and a simple white storage shelf.

French doors open toward a spacious and private balcony overlooking the rooftops and treetops.

Upstairs, the master bedroom stretches the entire width of the townhouse. The room is wonderfully bright thanks to two large sash windows with views of the trees outside.

The white walls and textiles are paired with pine floorboards for natural warmth.

The family bathroom is situated at the back of the floor. The room has Tadelakt plastered walls, and the ceiling is painted in the romantic ‘Adoration Rose’ by Francesca’s Paint.
An arched niche was created to house an antique fireclay bathtub with a mudstone base from a reclamation yard in Devon.

The custom-designed shower has a marble floor and Lefroy Brooks fittings. Marble returns in the stylish bathroom sink.

A beautiful oak staircase with a slim metal handrail, designed by the owner, sweeps you up to the top floor.

There are two more bedrooms on the attic floor. The largest one is decorated as a combined home office and television room, with shelves fitted in the niche under the slanted ceiling.

Built-in desks are fitted along two walls with a dormer window and a window seat between them.

The second bedroom has a richer color scheme than the rest of the house. The walls are painted in a blue-purple shade, paired with pink curtains and a pink and red bed throw.

The toilet on the entry floor features traditional fittings, a marble window sill, and storage space behind a deep red curtain.

The house is listed for £1.150.000 at Inigo.
