A Serene Palette and a Lovely Custom-Built Kitchen in a Gothenburg Apartment
On the top floor of a 1920s apartment building in a sought-after location in Gothenburg, lies this charming one-bedroom apartment where timeless 1920s charm meets contemporary elements into a cohesive look tied together by the original plank floors.
The apartment features many original elements, and updates to the home have been done gently. The original elements, such as hand-blown glass, wooden floors, and double doors, are carefully paired with site-built storage and a soft color palette.

We’re starting the tour in the kitchen, which has been custom-built by Lindhults and suits the original building style so beautifully.

The kitchen cabinets are topped with Portuguese limestone and handmade tiles from Stiltje.

In the corner, a built-in serving cabinet is turned into a charming coffee corner.

Hanging rods against the paneled walls provide the perfect storage space for pots and pans.

The doorways can be closed off by curtains, which adds a softness and texture to the interiors.

The calming palette continues into the living room, where muted tones are paired with furniture in a monochrome color palette, a large jute rug, and carefully selected decor.

There is only one window in the living room, though large, it helps that a mirror has been placed behind the sofa to reflect the light.

Simple IKEA Besta cabinets in the corner provide closed storage and a place to display books and other decorative items.

Beautiful double doors from the 1920s separate the living room from the bedroom.

The glasswork in the doors is simply exquisite.

The serene palette and original wooden floors continue into the living room, where it is paired with a large rug and a combination of white and brown textiles.

In the corner, a custom-built wardrobe provides plenty of storage space.

In the bedroom, the doorway is also paired with a curtain instead of a normal door. I really like the look of that.

The bathroom is designed with a focus on function and aesthetics. There is a built-in shower and storage that help keep the room tidy. A gray-and-black checkered floor adds a classic element to the space.

The spacious hall is fitted with built-in wardrobe space.

The apartment is listed for sale at Alvhem.
