Painted Ceilings in a Colorful 1920s Oslo Apartment
On the second floor of a 1920s apartment building in Oslo, this one-bedroom apartment is a celebration of color thanks to the work of Ingrid Simensen, color influencer and author of Fargeboka.
The 57-square-meter apartment features high ceilings and large windows that let in plenty of natural light, creating airy interior spaces. The original wooden floor has been preserved, adding historic character to the cheerful spaces.

The living room instantly puts a smile on my face. A bright yellow ceiling and upper part of the walls bring the sunshine indoors even when it’s not shining outside.

The spacious room has enough space for a seating area and a dining table. The round table is placed under the large window, offering nice views.

A ribbed green IKEA JÄTTEBO sofa creates a welcoming seating area where a former doorway has been transformed into built-in bookshelves.
A log burner adds a warm and cozy atmosphere to the space in the evening, while the white-painted brick adds some raw character.

The wooden floorboards and white walls create a calm atmosphere, making the ceiling really pop. Other color accents, such as the sofa and lamps, add more color.

On the other side of the hall, you’ll find a small kitchen. The simple and timeless white cabinets with a wooden counter are paired with beige-yellow walls and a light purple ceiling.

The tiles have also been painted yellow, making them blend in more with the walls.

On the other side, a built-in wooden bench and a folding table turn a small nook into a charming breakfast spot with views of the communal courtyard through the large window with an olive-green window frame.

In the bedroom, beige walls are paired with a blue ceiling. The room features plenty of storage, including cabinets around the window that also serve as a window seat.

Built-in wardrobes with sliding doors add even more storage space to the room.

A charming Le Klint extendable lamp is fitted against the wall by the bed.

From the bedroom, you can enter the small shower room with graphic floor tiles with underfloor heating.

There is no room in this house without color, and in the bathroom, simple white wall tiles are paired with a red cabinet and a light pink ceiling.

One corner is used as a laundry space with a washer and dryer hidden behind a curtain and wooden storage shelves.

In the hall, classic white-painted tongue-and-groove paneling is paired with an olive green shade on the upper half of the walls and the ceiling.

The toilet shares the same color palette as the shower room, with light pink walls and ceiling and pink storage.
