Cozy Interiors with Antiques and Art in an Art Nouveau Stockholm Apartment
In a beautiful Art Nouveau building in Stockholm’s charming Gamla Enskede neighborhood, this one-bedroom apartment pairs early 20th-century architecture with cozy interiors filled with antiques, art, classic materials, and modern comforts.
Generous rooms, large windows facing several directions, and views over mature trees and red-tiled rooftops give the apartment a distinct villa feel with all the conveniences of an apartment.

From the hall, an open doorway leads to a generous corner living room, creating a light-filled space with large windows in two directions.
There is plenty of room for several seating arrangements, whether gathered around the Contura soapstone stove or positioned to enjoy the changing views as the current owners did.

The soapstone fireplace adds a warm atmosphere to the room.

The entire apartment is decorated with classic furniture, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or outdated. Instead, the room feels wonderfully cozy and personal.
Large rugs are placed on top of the warm herringbone parquet floor, defining several areas in the living room. A beautiful antique desk adds a small work-from-home space, while the art on the walls adds a personal touch.

In the corner, floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes provide discreet storage, while a wide opening connects the sitting room with the kitchen.

From the windows, you have beautiful views of the characteristic streets or the communal garden.

The kitchen is as charming as the living room and also features windows in two directions, creating a bright atmosphere.

The kitchen was completely renovated in 2023, balancing practicality with details that suit the age of the house. Paneled cabinetry fronts from Picky Living are paired with pale stone-composite worktops, white beveled tiles, and brass fittings.

The white porcelain double sink with a brass mixer is placed under the window, offering a lovely view of the surrounding houses and greenery.

In the center of the room, an antique dining table with matching chairs provides a charming spot for breakfast, dinner, or a place to hang out during the day.

The kitchen is thoughtfully equipped, with an oven and microwave set at a comfortable working height, an integrated dishwasher and a spacious French-style fridge with pull-out freezer drawers.
A Smeg extractor hood completes the setting, with all appliances installed during the renovation. Light grey walls and dark herringbone parquet run through from the adjoining rooms, giving the kitchen a cohesive place within the home’s interior.

The apartment has one bedroom, featuring a beautiful bay window that gives the room a lot of character. The same herringbone floor and soft gray walls are added to this space, where they are paired with lavender-colored accents.

The large bay window is a perfect spot for a lounge chair or chaise longue, offering views of the greenery outside.

One wall is fitted with built-in wardrobes, offering plenty of storage space to this charming room.

The bathroom was also renovated in 2023, with white wall tiles, patterned gray floor tiles, and underfloor heating. Folding glass doors enclose a shower, which can be folded away to free up space.
A heated towel rail, mirrored cabinet, open shelving, laundry storage, a washer-dryer, and a wall-hung toilet make this room well equipped for everyday routines.

A small niche next to the front door has shelves and hanging rails for practical shoe and coat storage. More storage space is added with a floor-to-ceiling mirror cabinet.

Beyond the gate, Gamla Enskede’s garden-city character remains part of daily life. Winding streets follow the terrain between villas, terraced houses and established gardens, with Margaretaparken at the neighborhood’s green heart.
Local cafés, bakeries, small shops and neighborhood restaurants give the area its familiar small-town rhythm, while trendy Södermalm is only 10 minutes away.

Outside, the shared garden extends the home’s villa-like atmosphere. Gravel paths wind past a lawn and planting beds, while vines frame a terrace furnished for sitting outdoors.
