A Light and Modern Stockholm Apartment with Cheerful Color Accents

Large windows on both sides of the house, bright color pops, and open-plan living spaces turn this 87-square-meter home in the Södermalm area of Stockholm into a fun and inviting family apartment.

The apartment was tastefully renovated, creating bright open-plan spaces and an extra bedroom off the living room. What I love most about this home is the use of color, from a yellow doorway to a pink hall and a lavender kitchen backsplash. Color can be added in many ways.

The kitchen was renovated a couple of years ago, adding new cabinets from Superfront and a limestone worktop. The lavender backsplash adds a nice color accent to the room.

The kitchen has a smart layout with only lower cabinets and a kitchen island in the cooking area. One wall is fitted with floor-to-ceiling cupboards to hide the fridge and to add extra storage space

Adjacent to the kitchen there is space for a large dining table in front of the bay window with views of the water surrounding Stockholm.

The entire living space is designed in one big open plan space to maximize the social atmosphere of the home. This also means that the space has windows on both sides, turning it into a wonderfully bright space. On the floor lie Douglas fir floorboards, adding to the light atmosphere.

While the base design of the apartment is fairly neutral-colored, there are bright color accents everywhere. In the living room, the owners opted for a bold blue Ligne Roset Togo chair.

The owners turned one nook in the living room into a small bedroom, painted in a fun blue shade and fitted with a custom wood headboard with a storage ledge.

The apartment has two more double bedrooms, one with a manufactured concrete ceiling for an industrial touch.

Even the smallest room in the house can be fun. The hallway is painted in a bright pink shade, while the doorway is painted yellow.
