A Scandinavian Loft in an Old Industrial Building

Five-meter-high ceilings, a huge arched window, and exposed brick walls welcome us into this stunning loft apartment in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. The loft is located in an industrial building dating back to the early 20th century, and this industrial vibe is still visible in the stylish loft home.

The exposed brick walls, copper pipes, and high volume give this Swedish loft a New York vibe. Still, the furnishings are typically Scandinvain with light-colored furniture, classic design pieces, and carefully selected decor and textiles.

The industrial building has undergone several renovations, including an award-winning conversion into housing. Each apartment has its own unique character, and this 65-square-meter loft perfectly blends industrial architecture with modern materials and decor.

The sitting area is a striking space with five-meter-high ceilings and the original arched window that provides daylight throughout the apartment. The original elements, like the brick wall and the old radiator, preserved and painted in black, add character to the space.

The sitting area is centered around a built-in fireplace that runs on environmental fuel. A solid oiled parquet floor runs underfoot, adding a warm touch to the industrial space.

Upstairs is the bedroom with a built-in tempered glass railing that doesn’t block the natural light from the arched window. The owners added sheer and light-blocking curtains so the bedroom can be closed off for privacy.

The loft bedroom is big enough for a double bed. The apartment isn’t very colorful, but in the bedroom area, they painted one wall a calming blue shade, which is paired with natural-colored bedding, a red nightstand, and a blue-gray carpet.
