An Amazing Family Home in a Former Dutch Train Station
This monumental villa in The Netherlands was built in 1882 as a train station. The former station was already transformed into a chalet-style villa when the current owners completely renovated the house with the help of interior architect Roelfien Vos into this magnificent family home.
The old station building is now a warm and luxurious family home surrounded by fields and a large garden. During the renovation work, original features were preserved, and modern elements were added sensibly.
The open-plan kitchen, dining room, and serre are the beating heart of the home. The dining room is a magnificent space with high ceilings, original ornaments, and large doors that open into the garden.
The dining room showcases a modern grandeur with contemporary furnishings paired with classic elements like wall paneling, a grand chandelier, and ceiling ornaments. The muted blue palette of the walls and the rug creates a calm and luxurious look.
The living room has a cozy atmosphere where the brass JSPR chandelier takes center stage. This modern-style chandelier works perfectly with the intricate ceiling ornaments.
The room is centered around a fireplace and the muted tones create a comfortable atmosphere. The wooden floor is original to the house.
The kitchen is a magnificent space with modern white cabinets, a breakfast bar, a serre, and muted tones on the walls. Everywhere in the room are doors opening to the garden, creating a wonderful connection to the outdoors. On the floor lie Belgian hardstone tiles.
The master bedroom, with built-in wardrobes, is decorated with blue graphic wallpaper by Annet van Egmond.
The first floor houses three bedrooms with a classic parquet floor laid in a herringbone pattern. The children’s bedroom features built-in furniture with a platform bed and bookcases. The pink floral wallpaper adds a whimsical touch.
In total, the house has six bedrooms. One of the bedrooms under the slanted ceiling features the exposed wooden boards of the roof structure, adding a rustic, cozy vibe to the space.
The house is listed for sale at Drieklomp Makelaars and Renmeesters Oosterbeek.
