A Colorful Modern London Apartment with Silk Wallpapers
This two-bedroom apartment lies on the first floor of a newly built apartment complex near Acton Park in London. Its current architect-owner designed the apartment with an open-plan living space at the heart of the home, connected to the wraparound balcony.
The entire apartment is decorated with color, both in the decor and the furniture. The dark oak floorboards add a warm touch to all the spaces, while silk wallpapers, bold color pops, and fun patterns add a cheerful note.

The open-plan living space is clearly zoned into a sitting area, a dining area, and a kitchen.

The sitting area lies at the end of the room with windows in two directions and glass doors leading to the wraparound balcony.

The balcony is a wonderful extension to the living space, and the wide streets and corner position offer a nice view of the neighbouring houses.

The round pastel-toned “Meltingpot” table, designed by Dirk van der Kooij, is surrounded by colorful chairs (the “Chubby Chair” also designed by van der Kooij and two 1950s Thomas Harlev chairs), connecting the sitting area to the kitchen.

The kitchen features bespoke timber cabinets, marble countertops, and blue backsplash tiles from Bert & May.

The hall is decorated with delicate mauve slub silk wallpaper by de Gournay. The window is framed by custom roman blinds in a Dedar fabric.

Both bedrooms are decorated using plenty of color, silk deGourney wallpapers, and headboards upholstered in Dedar fabrics.

The second bedroom is decorated in a sunny yellow color, featuring the Arbidel asymmetrical mirror, murano glass lighting, and a headboard upholstered in Dedar’s Flimflam fabric.

The stylish bathroom features a combined bath and shower, a mirrored cabinet, polished-chrome Axor accessories, and an undersink storage unit (a plant box) by Ferm Living.

Bespoke double doors in black-stained birch, finished with Haute Deco Lucite Blue handles, in the hall hide a utility space and storage.

The apartment is listed for £625,000 at The Modern House.
