A Corner Apartment with Period Features and Bright Color Pops
Up on a hill on a street in the Södermalm area of Stockholm lies this airy two-bedroom apartment. Thanks to its corner position, the 1930s apartment has windows on two sides, and the corner window in the living room is also a great architectural feature.
The apartment is the result of merging two smaller homes. Now, the 68-square-meter apartment features open-plan spaces between the living room, kitchen, and inner hall and two charming bedrooms.

The apartment is typical for its time period; it is light, spacious, and has a well-thought-out floorplan and features well-preserved original details such as herringbone parquet, mirrored doors, and windows with espagnolette knobs.

The living room is an inviting space with a large corner window overlooking the leafy courtyard. The walls are painted in a warm beige shade, pairing beautifully with the original herringbone parquet floor.

The apartment has a semi-open-plan layout, which is perfect for social gatherings. A large dining table with a striped pink tablecloth sits between the sitting and cooking area.

The kitchen is simple but functional, with contemporary white cabinets and white backsplash tiles.

With cabinets and workspace on either side, there is plenty of room to cook. And the open layout of the apartment means the kitchen can be accessed via the living room and the hall, creating a wonderful sense of space in the apartment.

The master bedroom lies behind the kitchen. In this area, you can see that the apartment used to be two smaller ones. The former hall has been turned into a home office with access to a smaller bathroom and a door leading outside.

The warm yellow-beige tone on the walls are paired with the original herringbone parquet floor and a wonderful variation of color in the textiles used to decorate the home.

The smaller apartment’s former hall has been turned into a home office, and on the left is the door to a small bathroom.

The second bedroom is now a lovely children’s room, freshly painted in a warm and neutral shade and featuring the original parquet floor.

The neutral shades are paired with bright color pops in the decor and furniture.

Like many older Swedish apartments, this one also has a spacious inner hall. The owners turned this open space that connects the main rooms of the house into a home office with a wall-mounted desk with shelves and a large pink rug.

Original built-in wardrobes offer plenty of storage space.

The main bathroom is clad in charming blue-gray tiles.
