A Cozy Swedish Apartment with a Walk-In Pantry in the Sage Green Kitchen
This two-bedroom apartment lies on the second floor of an early 20th-century apartment building in the Swedish city of Gothenburg. The apartment was recently renovated by its current owners, creating a social, open-plan living space with a new sage green kitchen.
The 82-square-meter apartment features beautiful original elements from the 1920s, such as wooden floorboards, barred windows with hand-blown glass, moldings, and high ceilings. While most of the apartment is painted in muted tones, the sage green kitchen and deep blue wall paneling in the hall really stand out.

The open-plan living area is a room for socializing. Originally, the kitchen was located in the room that is now the second bedroom, but the current owners moved the kitchen to this large room, creating a social layout.

Warm, natural light flows into the living room through the original barred windows with hand-blown glass. The room is decorated in a typical Scandinavian style, using light color tones and natural materials.

The living room features the original oak parquet floor, laid in a Dutch pattern, from the 1920s.

The rustic dining table in the center of the room connects the cooking area with the sitting area. I love the natural element of the table in the room.

The kitchen was moved into this room in 2024. The owners opted for a design that suits the 1920s building style of the apartment. Classic sage green cabinets are paired with brass fittings, a large island, and a walk-in pantry with glass doors.

The barred windows are fitted with a shelf that is the perfect spot to grow herbs.

It is not often that you see a walk-in pantry integrated into the kitchen design, but I think it works wonderfully!

The master bedroom is decorated in a calm palette of light gray walls, light-colored bedding, and sanded wooden floorboards.

There are built-in wardrobes on three sides of the room.

The bathroom can be accessed via a door in the master bedroom. It was renovated at the same time as the kitchen, and it now pairs industrial elements with classic touches like the Victorian-style floor tiles.

The guest toilet paired Victorian-style floor tiles with gray-painted tongue-and-groove paneling.

This smaller bedroom used to be the kitchen. It is a charming room with built-in wardrobes, a large window, and it also hides the washing machine behind one of the cabinet doors.

The narrow hall offers plenty of storage in the form of a built-in wardrobe and a bench with drawers. The storage and tongue-and-groove paneling are painted in a deep blue shade which is paired with the original wooden floorboards.

The apartment was listed for sale at Alvhem.
