A Dark Gray Swedish Apartment with an Olive Green Kitchen
On the second floor of a pretty neo-Renaissance style building in Gothenburg lies this charming one-bedroom apartment. The building was constructed in the late 19th century, but in the 1980s it was completely burnt down and rebuilt to resemble the original architecture with richly decorated facades and dormers.
The 66 square meter apartment is decorated in a moody palette of dark gray and olive green and features a practical and circular layout with spacious rooms, large windows, and plenty of storage space.

The kitchen was renovated in 2024, pairing dark gray walls with classic oak cabinets painted in a wonderful olive green shade. There is enough room for a large dining table (the owners opted for a beautiful antique wooden table with Hans J. Wegner CH24 chairs and a bench), and the high window lets in plenty of natural light.

The olive green cabinets are paired with a Carrara marble countertop, brass knobs and Tapwell mixer, and a Lofra stove.

Seashell-colored handmade tiles are used as the backsplash and add a nice bit of texture to the room.

Even the space above the door is used for storage.

There is a nice inner hall connecting the kitchen with the bathroom and the entry hall. This space is fitted with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes painted in the same color as the walls.

Many older Scandinavian apartments have a bedroom and a living room in a row, and this is also the case in this Swedish home.

The living room walls are painted in a dark gray hue, but it doesn’t look gloomy thanks to the huge windows and the white ceiling.

The bedroom is connected to the living room and the kitchen. The walls are painted in the same dark gray shade as the rest of the apartment, and in this room, the owners also opted for a green color accent.

A built-in desk is fitted under the two large windows, offering plenty of workspace.

A large mirror opposite the windows reflects natural light and makes this room feel brighter.

The bathroom was renovated a couple of years ago. Both the floor and walls have been covered with Bricmates Norrvange tiles in a sand color.

An antique gilded mirror contrasts with the contemporary design of the bathroom perfectly.

The apartment has a spacious entry hall with a built-in closet on the left and bookshelves fitted around the living room doorframe.

The apartment building features a beautiful, green and picturesque courtyard garden.

The apartment is listed for sale at Alvhem.
