A Beautiful Duplex Apartment in a Notting Hill Townhouse

On the third and fourth floors of a stucco-fronted Victorian townhouse in Notting Hill lies this beautiful duplex apartment with two grand living spaces and a luxurious material palette.

The apartment was reimagined by RYE Design, creating social spaces with high ceilings and period features. Currently, the house is designed as a one-bedroom apartment with two living rooms. The top floor has a light open-plan living room and kitchen with a roof terrace overlooking the historic London houses.

On the lower floor, a grand living room lies at the front of the house with a large bay window and a parquet floor laid in a herringbone pattern. One wall is fitted with built-in bookcases and the room is centered around a gorgeous marble fireplace.

The bay window is transformed into a cozy window seat. The benches can be pulled out to create a guest bed.

A sleek steel sliding door opens to a small niche which is now a home office with a large window overlooking the historic London street.

The upper floor is a wonderfully bright space with windows in two directions, white walls, and a honey-hued parquet floor. One side is designed as a seating area with the sofa placed in the middle of the room, serving as a natural divider between lounging and cooking/dining.

At the back of the room lies the cooking area with a tile floor. The shaker-style cabinets reflect the history of the house and are paired with a sink from deVOL and marble countertops.

A large dining area has been created next to the kitchen with a bench against the wall, creating plenty of seating space. The bench and the cushions on the chairs are both ochre yellow, adding a warm color touch to the area.
