A Harmonious Color Palette in a Swedish Duplex Apartment
This beautiful Swedish apartment lies on the top two floors of a turn-of-the-century building in Gothenburg. The duplex apartment was renovated recently, pairing historic charm with contemporary comfort and style.
The apartment is split over two floors. On the ground floor, you find a semi-open-plan living room and kitchen decorated in peaceful green tones, and two bedrooms. The top floor is magnificent. The attic floor with slanted ceilings has been turned into a charming second sitting room with high ceilings and exposed beams.
The kitchen was renovated a couple of years ago, pairing beige custom-made doors from Järfälla Kitchen with Victorian Green Subway Tile with cornice from Byggfabriken and an extra-deep granite countertop “Astoria Gold” from White Goods.
A charming bay with large windows floods the room with light. There is also space for a large dining table.
The walls in the kitchen are painted in Jotun Lady’s “Antique Green” shade, and one wall is decorated with the “Pimpernell” wallpaper by William Morris.
Custom-made double doors made of solid wood from Byggfabriken separate the kitchen and the living room.
When the doors are opened, you create a charming semi-open-plan living area. Both rooms feature dark-stained spruce floorboards, adding a warm touch to the living spaces.
The walls in the living room are painted in Jotun Lady’s “Treasure” hue, and one wall is decorated with the Pimpernell wallpaper by William Morris.
The master bedroom is located on the lower floor. The walls are painted in “Gray Slate” by Jotun Lady, and the wardrobe wall with custom-made doors from Järfälla Kök is painted in the same color as the walls.
I think this room used to be the kitchen. There is a built-in pantry in the corner of the room that is now transformed into wardrobe storage.
From the bedroom, you have a charming view of the green communal courtyard. What a peaceful way to wake up, even though you live in the city.
The bed fits snug between the wardrobes, and the exposed brick wall adds a nice, raw element to the space.
The second bedroom on the lower floor is turned into a wonderful children’s room with walls painted in the warm shade “Organic Red” by Jotun Lady.
This room also features custom, built-in wardrobes painted in the same color as the walls.
The apartment has a spacious entry hall with walls painted in Jotun Lady’s “Grå Harmoni”.
The attic floor has been turned into a wonderful second living room with art lining the walls, high-pitched ceilings with exposed wooden beams, and skylights.
The curved wall has been fitted with custom bookshelves. The single-strip oak parquet flooring has been stained in a similar color as the floorboards on the lower level.
There is a third bedroom on the top floor, featuring a large skylight, an exposed brick wall, and walls painted in Jotun Lady’s “Sheer Gray”.
An inner hall has been fitted with built-in wardrobes on either side. The walls in this part are painted in Jotun Lady’s “Senses” shade.
