A Light Scandi Apartment in a Former Stately Home
On the second floor of a turn-of-the-century apartment complex in Gothenburg lies this charming one-bedroom apartment, decorated in a soft color scheme and packed with historical details.
Stucco and ceiling rosettes adorn the ceilings, a neo-rococo tiled stove adorns one corner of the bedroom, and a stately double door stands between the kitchen and living room.
All rooms are unusually airy thanks to the fact that they were once the living room of a stately home. The stucco in the living room hints at a former dining room, while the ornate tiled stove was usually found in living rooms.

The living room is light and soft and is painted in Jotun’s ‘Light Antique Gray’. One wall is fitted with a custom built-in bookcase with space for a television.

On the floor lies a herringbone parquet floor, topped by a fluffy rug, adding a cozy vibe. The room features beautiful stucco and a ceiling rosette, showcasing the stately history of the apartment.

Large wooden doors separate the living room from the kitchen. When opened up, light comes in from multiple directions and it adds a more spacious feeling.

The kitchen is a charming space with angled walls and access to a small balcony. The classic kitchen is painted in a charming gray-green hue, paired with walls painted in Jotun’s ‘White Pepper’, and the moldings and joinery are painted in ‘Light Antique Gray.’

A beautiful cabinet stands in the corner, displaying the best earth- and glassware. It is painted in the same color as the kitchen cabinets.

The large bedroom is light thanks to two big windows. The walls are painted in Jotun’s Tudor, and the room is partially clad with chest panels painted in ‘Mossa’ from Becker.

In the corner stands a beautiful fireplace with intricate detailing.

The apartment has a small bathroom with white tiles on the walls and blue Moroccan-style tiles on the floor.

A tiny niche next to the sink is fitted with charming storage baskets.

The hall is a classic entry to the home with walls painted in Jotun’s ‘White Pepper’ and a new marble tile floor.
