Modern Comforts and Historic Architecture in an 18th Century Home
On a peaceful location, surrounded by trees, and near Lake Bunn in Sweden, stands this extraordinary home that is the result of a labour of love spanning centuries. The house was built as a soldier’s hut in Eksjö in 1790. In 1963, it was carefully taken apart and moved to this location in Lövviken.Â
The house is the result of generations of history and craftsmanship. Every element has been carefully chosen, resulting in a home where soaped wooden floors meet cultured glass in the windows, and quality materials like heart pine from Aneby and limestone from Kinnekulle are carefully selected, creating a luxurious contemporary home with historic bones.

Double doors lead you into an entrance hall where the serene and natural atmosphere of the home welcomes you inside. All surfaces are painted with traditional, diffusion-open paints (linseed oil paint and egg oil tempera) that allow the wood to breathe for natural durability and a long life.

The Kvänum kitchen is designed using drawers made of oak from Visingsö, where the trees were planted by the king’s fleet in the 1830s. The oak cabinet are topped with limestone from Kinnekulle.

A new Bertazzoni stove sits side by side with an old-fashioned wood stove from Husqvarna.

The living room is centered around a fireplace, adding a cozy ambiance to the room in the evening and the winter months.

This room is fitted with new windows custom-made by EKG Snickeri outside Nässjö, using the same style as the original windows, only a little bit bigger to let in more natural light.

The ground floor also features a spacious bathroom with a freestanding bath under the window and a separate shower.

The bathroom vanity features two washbasins with countertops from Stonecut in Jönköping.

A custom-built staircase made of heart pine leads you to the open-plan first floor.

The first floor is a semi-open space with a home office on one side and the master bedroom on the other side.

The office is built of solid oak and provides plenty of storage space. You can look out over the driveway from the window.

Modern comfort meets historic architecture: the original ceiling beams have been fitted with recessed spotlights.

The bedroom is a serene space with light gray walls, a high-pitched ceiling with wooden beams, and a window overlooking the garden.

The ground also features a guest house that was added to the plot in 2021. The veranda was added this year.

The guest house is made of spruce, and the veranda of heart pine from Aneby. The veranda features a sunken spa bath and an outdoor shower.

The grounds feature a charming patio space with a pizza oven from Zanichelli.

The garden offers a green, peaceful environment with perennials, 300 crocuses, tulips, tall flowers, fruit and berry bushes, and a well-kept lawn. There are several relaxing spots as well as a private swimming area.

The house is listed for sale at Ceylan Sandberg Fastighetsmäkleri.
