A Modern Scandinavian-Style Apartment in a Former London Mill
Scandinavian-style living meets a warehouse apartment in this bright London home. The apartment was recently renovated by Tendo Architects in collaboration with the current owner, TV presenter Will Best, combining historic warehouse features with contemporary design elements.
The 608 sq ft open plan space was divided into a living area and a bedroom space using plywood and glass in a way that separates the sleeping area while allowing light into it. They made the most of the high ceilings so the bed has been raised to create storage space underneath.
The south-facing, original warehouse windows show the history of the building, contrasting nicely with the modern design indoors. It also floods the apartment with natural light.
The minimalistic Scandinavian style is paired with vintage items in the art and lighting, showcasing the difference in styles of the two owners.
The open-plan living space is smartly divided into a sitting area and a kitchen/dining area, thanks to the corner sofa.
The entire home features bespoke plywood joinery, and the kitchen is made from the same material to create a cohesive, minimalistic look. The minimalistic cabinets are paired with open shelves displaying glasswork and crockery to show some personality.
Birch ply paneling with sheets of glazing separates the bedroom from the living area. The loft area is big enough for a double bed and built in shelves offers space for your favorite books.
The bathroom is almost hidden behind sheets of birch ply in the hallway.
The apartment is listed for sale at The Modern House
