Painted Ceilings and a Light Yellow Kitchen in a Swedish Apartment
This charming 70-square-meter apartment is located on the ground floor of a late-19th-century apartment building in Stockholm. The turn-of-the-century home has been carefully renovated, pairing stylish materials and modern amenities with original elements.
Thanks to the apartment’s courtyard location, the home is wonderfully quiet and offers views of the lush inner garden through the large, original windows. Late 19th-century elements such as tiled fireplaces, wooden floorboards, and stucco have been preserved, adding historic elegance to the light-colored interior spaces.

The living room is a comfortable space with a beautiful wooden floor and an original kakelugn (fireplace) in the corner, adding warmth and character.

The walls are painted in an off-white shade, paired with joinery and the ceiling painted in a subtle gray-green hue.

The current owners decorated the living room with only a sitting area, featuring a checkered rug, a white sofa, a Le Corbusier lounge chair, and an Arne Norell “Scirocco” safari chair. But there is enough room for a dining table or a home office in front of the windows.

A wide opening with double sliding doors leads you to the charming kitchen.

The beautiful kitchen features soft yellow cabinet doors paired with a stone countertop and integrated appliances.

A round dining table lighted by a terracotta Cono pendant connects the kitchen with the living area.

The beige-yellow hue of the cabinets are paired with a fresh light-blue painted ceiling.

In the bedroom, the serene light beige hue on the walls is paired with a blue-gray painted ceiling. Large windows with deep niches look out over the courtyard.

The bedroom also features a traditional Swedish fireplace, adding warmth and a historic ambiance.

This smaller bedroom used to be the kitchen. It is now a charming room with a rounded wall from the communal staircase.

The room can be used as a home office, a children’s room, or a guest bedroom. There is space for a double bed, but it is now decorated with a single bed and a wooden IKEA Hemnes desk.

A pretty cane folding screen adds texture and helps to create cozy corners.

The stylish bathroom is designed using light-colored vertically laid tiles with smart storage niches in the shower.

A built-in storage unit (with space for a washing machine) is paired with a stone top. Extra storage has been added with the mirror cabinets.

The narrow hall features a terracotta-colored hat rack and a shoe cabinet/bench.
The apartment is listed for sale at HusmanHagberg.
