A Small Apartment with Rustic Floorboards and Beige Walls
On a charming Stockholm street that reminds you a little bit of Paris in the summertime lies this small one-bedroom apartment painted in a light color scheme and featuring original late 19th-century elements.
The small 36-square-meter apartment lies on the top floor of an 1880 apartment building. It features large windows that flood the small spaces with light, which is enhanced by the light color scheme. Original joinery like moldings and window sills add historic charm to the spaces which is paired with contemporary interiors.

Large windows and high ceilings add a sense of space and airiness to the rooms, making them feel larger than their actual size.
The apartment has a combined living room and kitchen featuring a beautiful rustic wooden floor (that features in the living room and the hall) and walls painted in a soft beige shade.
The beige and yellow rug adds a cheerful color accent to the living space.
The space used to have a fireplace, which you can see in the change of flooring. The corner is now used as a charming dining area with a rustic vintage folding table and classic Scandinavian chairs.
The apartment is small, and there is no space for wardrobes in the bedroom, so the living room is fitted with large wardrobes behind the sofa.
The kitchen is tiny but makes the most of the available space with a double row of upper cabinets and a shelf and hooks above and next to the door leading to the bedroom. The classic off-white cabinets are paired with a marble countertop and black mosaic backsplash tiles.
When you live in a small space, you must use every inch of space that’s available. The space around a doorframe is often a good place for extra storage. The owners also added a shelving system against the kitchen cabinet.
From the living room, you move into the bedroom that is just big enough for a double bed with a nightstand. The floorboards are painted white, and the wall behind the bed is painted in gray chalk paint.
These older apartments often have deep window sills, which make for perfect storage spaces for books or other items.
The tiny bathroom is clad in a combination of beige and colorful mosaic tiles.
A small, awkward, niche in the hall has been fitted with storage shelves.
The hall features the same rustic floorboards as the living room, and the walls are painted the same beige shade. IKEA shoe cabinets line one wall for storage, and the large mirror helps to reflect light throughout this space.
The apartment complex features an amazing communal garden with multiple seating areas and lots of greenery.
