Warm Yellow Walls in a Charming 1920s House in Stockholm
Enskededalen is an area in Stockholm inspired by the pre-industrial Swedish wooden towns and Elsa Beskow’s romantic picture books. In this area, with idyllic 1920s villas, we find this charming home where period features are paired with modern amenities.
The 128-square-meter house features beautiful elements from the 1920s, such as tiled fireplaces and wooden floorboards, paired with modern furnishings and a warm beige-and-yellow color palette.

The house is nestled along a winding street surrounded by trees, which looks magical in the summer and the winter.

The living room is a cozy space with a light beige-yellow hue on the walls and a sunny yellow ceiling.

The ground-floor plan features four rooms connected to one another. The living room has an open doorway leading to the dining room on one side and a small home office on the other side.

The rooms aren’t very big, but thanks to the semi-open layout, they feel spacious.

The small home office features a beautiful wooden antique desk.

From the living room, you move into the dining room, where light yellow is paired with deep red joinery. This room, just as the living room, has a cozy fireplace.

The entire ground floor features the original pine linden floorboards.

The kitchen by Epoq is designed in a classic style, featuring white cabinetry paired with brass fittings and a light stone countertop.

The walls are painted in Auro’s warm white hue.

Entry to the house is through the veranda. The window frames are painted in a Carl Larsson-inspired green color from Auro.

The built-in bench provides storage and seating.

A light gray wooden staircase leads you to the first floor.

The staircase leads you to an open space that can be furnished as a second living room or a home office. The open space is flanked by two bedrooms and a bathroom.

The master bedroom features soft yellow walls and a high pitched ceiling.

The room offers built-in storage under the slanted ceilings, as well as a built-in closet.

The other bedroom features warm white walls and yellow joinery.

The first floor also features a small bathroom. There is an additional bathroom in the basement, as well as a laundry space and other rooms that can be turned into bedrooms.

The house is surrounded by a lovely garden, which is sunny and overgrown with gnarled apple trees, perennials, and berry bushes.
There are several seats for outdoor dining, a lawn for playing and ball games, as well as a tool shed and a winterized shed that is perfect for a home office or guest room.
