A Well-Preserved 1950s Apartment North of Stockholm
In a quiet location north of central Stockholm lies this well-preserved 1950s corner apartment. The 62-square-meter apartment feels larger than it is, thanks to its efficient 1950s floor plan and large windows that flood the rooms with natural light.
Besides the floor plan, the apartment also features the original midcentury kitchen and built-in wardrobes in the bedroom and hall. These 1950s features are paired with a soft color palette of yellow, green, and blue hues.

The spacious living room features large windows and a glass door leading to the balcony, extending the interior spaces in the warmer months.

The muted yellow shade on the walls pairs beautifully with the 1950s atmosphere and the wooden furniture.

The charming balcony overlooks a forest area behind the apartment building, adding privacy and a connection to nature.

There is a wide, open doorway toward the inner hall leading to the kitchen space, creating a flowing floor plan as well as a sense of space.

An original glass-framed door leads into the apartment’s fantastic kitchen.Â

Two large south-facing windows let in plenty of natural light, and the charming original interior creates a spacious, inviting dining area where you can eat breakfast in the morning sun.

The original 1950s kitchen features lime-blossom-painted doors, paired with solid oak and stainless steel countertops. The cabinets and drawers feature preserved tick locks and wooden handles.

The opening toward the dining area is fitted with shelves for extra storage without losing that social connection to the dining table.

The kitchen walls are painted white with wallpaper featuring Stig Lindberg’s “BersĂĄ” pattern as a backdrop in the dining area.

A checkered linoleum floor in off-white and gray-green was added to the kitchen in 2023. Even though it is new, it suits the original 50s interiors beautifully.

The bedroom is a serene space with walls and wardrobes painted in a soft blue-gray shade paired with a light carpet on the floor. French doors flood the room with natural light.

The wardrobes are designed with a built-in workspace featuring shelves and a desk.

The hall features plenty of storage space with a contemporary hat rack and bench, as well as original built-in wardrobes. A new oak parquet floor lies underfoot.
