Contemporary Architect-Designed Interiors in a Victorian House
When you stand on the London road filled with traditional Victorian houses using London stock brick with white stucco dressings, you will have no idea what you will find inside. This Victorian house in Clapton is completely transformed by its owner, architect William Paul.
When you step into the house, you are greeted by a vast open-plan space with double high ceilings, a five-meter tall glass wall facing the garden, and a concrete and oak material palette.

When you step into the open-plan living space, your eye is drawn toward the soaring glass windows at the back facing the garden. The left wall is made of concrete, adding a mid-20th-century design element to the Victorian home.

Under the window, custom-made terrazzo benches have been added.

The sitting area at the back of the plan is centered around a cast concrete fireplace with fluted tile components.

A dining area sits between the sitting area and the kitchen. The exposed brick walls pair nicely with the concrete walls and flooring.

The front of the plan houses the kitchen, which has oak veneer cabinets and an island topped with Grigio Alpi grey limestone countertops sourced from the Dolomites.

An open staircase leads to the first floor, where you will find two bedrooms.

At the front of the plan lies the master bedroom with an exposed brick wall, oak wooden elements, and an en-suite bathroom.

The en-suite bathroom and wardrobe room has a walk-in steam shower clad in porcelain tiles with built-in seating, a double sink, and an exposed brick wall.

The second bedroom is a beautiful home office with a large picture window and an exposed wooden ceiling.

On the top floor lies another bedroom with a Juliet balcony and an en-suite bathroom clad in gray tiles and with an exposed wooden ceiling.

The house is listed for £1,695,000 at The Modern House.
