Warm Beige Walls and Practical Niches in a 1920s Studio Apartment
On the second floor of a beautiful 1920s building in Stockholm lies this charming studio apartment with original elements and a smart floor plan.
Despite its modest floor size of only 28 square meters, the studio apartment has a good layout with two niches, one for a bed and one for the kitchen, as well as a hallway with a niche for coats and shoes and a built-in wardrobe.

The small apartment features original elements from the 1920s, like the generous ceiling height, the windows, and the herringbone parquet floor that adds a lot of character and warmth.

The classic parquet floor is paired with a warm beige shade on the walls.

The high ceilings have been taken advantage of by adding a double row of bookshelves high up the wall.

The practical niche is big enough for a small double bed. Shelves on two sides are fitted to the walls to add storage space. You could also add a curtain to create a sense of a one-bedroom apartment and hide the bed from view.

Under the large, original window, there is space for a small dining table overlooking the quiet street.

The second niche is home to a small but practical kitchen made from IKEA cabinets in dark wood veneer, paired with a wooden countertop, white backsplash tiles, and a wooden floor painted in a checkered black and white pattern.

The hall is painted in the same warm beige tone as the main room. But in here, it is paired with a peach-colored ceiling and a bold red bathroom door.

The hall features the original parquet floor, and on the right is a door leading to a built-in wardrobe, meaning the main room doesn’t have to be cluttered with bulky storage furniture.

A triangle-shaped niche by the front door is perfect for shoes, coats, and other smaller items.
