A Bright Apartment Where Historic Character Meets Contemporary Design
On the top floor of a yellow-plastered Art Nouveau building in the Midsummerkransen area of Stockholm lies this charming two-bedroom apartment, where early 20th-century character pairs effortlessly with modern comforts.
The 67-square-meter apartment was recently renovated, adding a new kitchen while preserving historical elements such as the original wooden floors, mirror doors, and deep window niches.

The living room is a cozy space with one wall fitted with low bookshelves, an original fireplace, and recently sanded original floorboards.

The walls are painted in a soft beige tone, adding warmth while also maintaining that fresh, light atmosphere.

The original (working) fireplace adds warmth and character to the small living room.

During the recent renovations, new skirting boards for Sekelskifte and double doors to the master bedroom, both in a classic style matching the apartment’s building period, have been added to the room.

The master bedroom can be accessed from the living room and the hall. The walls are painted in a light green hue from Little Greene, paired with the original spruce floorboards.

The kitchen was renovated in 2025 and features a well-thought-out design that harmoniously integrates the joinery and choice of materials with the character of the house.

The oak kitchen cabinets are from IKEA, topped with Carrara marble and a Tapwell faucet.

For the fridge, freezer, and pantry, the owners added custom-built cabinets from a Småland carpentry shop.

The walls are painted in Bauhaus no. 304, a white color from Auro, while the floor consists of newly laid pine parquet from Berg & Berg.

The second bedroom is a charming space with a rounded wall from the central staircase.

On the floor lies an extra-thick pine floor from Sekelskifte, laid in 2024, with contemporary skirting boards painted in a green colour from Auro, Byggfabriken.

The hall is spacious and connects all the rooms in the house. The walls were recently painted in a light blue hue, and a new pine floor was added.
