Gray Tones, Wallpapers, and a Mint Green Fireplace in a Swedish Apartment
This exquisitely renovated one-bedroom apartment is located on the first floor of a turn-of-the-century apartment building in Gothenburg. Period character is paired with contemporary Scandinavian design, wallpapers, and built-in storage.
The almost 70 square meter apartment features many original details like a mint green fireplace, three meter high ceilings, wooden floors, high skirting boards, and deep window niches, adding plenty of character to the interior spaces, which are mainly designed in gray tones.

Despite the gray color scheme, the rooms feel cozy and inviting, partly because of the period features but also thanks to the layering of textiles and furniture pieces in natural materials.

The living room is a cozy room with two large windows in a row. The walls are painted in ‘Bergsklippa’ from Beckers, paired with the original joinery, which is painted in ‘Stork.’

Highlight of this room is the mint green fireplace in the corner that adds a subtle color touch to the gray space as well as historic character and warmth in the evening and the dark winter months.

The apartment has a classic layout for an apartment built in this time period. Two large rooms are located in a row with double doors separating the two.

The bedroom is spacious and stylish with white pigmented wooden floors and gray walls. Framed by beautiful wall moldings is a patterned wallpaper from Coordonné (Paisaje Con Flamencos), which is a nice eye catcher that can also be viewed from the living room when the doors are left open.

One wall is fitted with built-in wardrobes that are painted in the same gray hue as the other walls (Fårö by Alcro).

The first room you see when you enter the house is this charming kitchen facing the courtyard.

The site-built kitchen features classic cabinets painted in Grey Moss from Little Greene paired with a Carrara marble countertop, a porcelain sink, and handmade white backsplash tiles from Italy.

One wall has been left exposed, and the brickwork adds a lot of character to the space. On the floor lie tiles from Victorian Floor Tiles that suit the building period of the apartment beautifully.

The bathroom is stylish with three-colored marble tiles on the floor laid in a herringbone pattern and white tiles on the walls.

One corner is fitted with a washing machine topped with a smart storage shelving system.

The black oak commode is topped with black marble and a black sink. The bathroom door is painted in ‘Deco Pink’ from Jotun.

The hallway features a combination of period joinery, painted in ‘Angora Blanket’ from Nordsjö, and William Morris wallpaper. The hall features built-in closets and a walk-in wardrobe for plenty of storage space.

The apartment is listed for sale at Alvhem.
