IKEA x Teklan Bring Bold Color and Playful Geometry to Home Tech
IKEA is once again blurring the lines between technology and home décor, this time through a vibrant collaboration with color-driven designer Tekla Evelina Severin, known as Teklan.
The partnership introduces a new series of audio and lighting products that turn everyday electronics into expressive design objects, making tech an intentional part of a room’s visual identity rather than something to hide.
Tech That Wants to Be Seen
For years, IKEA has expanded its portfolio of home-friendly tech, from discreet Wi-Fi hubs to sculptural speakers. But this collaboration pushes the idea further: speakers as decorative objects.
“We want to change how people view electronics,” says Sara Ottosson, product developer at IKEA of Sweden. “Speakers can contribute to the atmosphere of a home through shape, color, and character, not just sound.”
Teklan’s Signature Color Language
Known for her fearless use of color and memorable geometric compositions, Teklan brings an unmistakable aesthetic to the collection. Her approach, balancing playful contrasts with spatial depth, informs each product through unexpected palettes, bold patterns, and graphic surfaces.
“Color is such an emotional tool,” says Teklan. “It completely changes how we experience objects. We wanted to bring softness and friendliness to tech and help people see electronics differently.”
The SOLSKYDD Speakers: Round, Graphic, and Expressive
All speakers are designed with the idea that products that bring sound into a room should also add presence and character, even when not in use.
The SOLSKYDD series, also available in a pure white version outside the Teklan collaboration, is designed by Ola Wihlborg with a focus on both form and acoustics.
The series includes three round Bluetooth speakers, each with its own size and personality: a small portable model in orange with an eye-catching pattern and a medium-sized version in green with diagonal stripes in brown and beige. Both can be hung or placed on the included stand.
The largest model, designed for wall mounting, features an orange textured surface and can be paired with a display, such as a TV.
Teklan’s color scheme and finish wrap around two-dimensional graphic patterns on the front, creating optical effects with a sense of movement and vibrancy.
All speakers can be paired with each other and with other compatible IKEA Bluetooth speakers for a multi-speaker mode. They also support Spotify Tap, so you can resume playing music with a single tap.
KULGLASS: Lamp + Speaker = Softly Sculptural Tech
Two lamp speakers, KULGLASS in shades of green and maroon with pink, merge light, sound, and color into one soft, swirling form. The lamp’s ice-cream-inspired shade gives it an approachable silhouette, contrasting with its sophisticated audio technology inside.
“I wanted this inviting shape to contrast with the technical complexity we usually associate with high-quality sound,” says Tekla Evelina Severin. “While the inside is sophisticated, the outside feels warm, open, and easy to understand.
When it comes to the colors, I searched for a calming feel from the past. The mint green color comes from a childhood memory, and I even went to my grandparents’ house to match it to the exact shade of an old bar of soap that I remembered.”
A New Take on a Classic: Colorful FADO
The collection also includes a playful reinterpretation of IKEA’s iconic FADO glass globe lamp, refreshed in Teklan’s distinctive palette to cast a warm, atmospheric glow.
The SOLSKYDD and KULGLASS series will launch in stores and online on December 5, 2025.
Earlier this year, the Teklan collaboration introduced new colorways for the VAPPEBY speaker and a set of boldly braided charging cables, SITTBRUNN, RUNDHULT, and LILLHULT, in retro-inspired hues reminiscent of climbing ropes.
