A Narrow Scandinavian Apartment with a Charming Blue Bedroom
On the first floor of a charming turn-of-the-century apartment building in the Linnéstaden area of Gothenburg lies this one-bedroom apartment, where period features are combined with modern amenities.
The 52-square-meter apartment has a long, narrow floor plan, with the living room on the street side and the kitchen and bedroom at the back. Period features from the beginning of the 20th-century, such as high moldings, wooden floors, and ceiling rosettes, are preserved, adding a historic touch to the apartment.

The entry hall opens up to the charming kitchen space, from where you can also reach the apartment’s bedroom.

The stylish kitchen is from Marbodal, featuring classic white cabinets topped with a Stenkomposit countertop and white Italian backsplash tiles.

Despite the apartment’s narrow layout, there is still room for a dining table in the kitchen. Instead of placing it against the wall as you usually see, it is now in the center of the room, allowing enough space to walk from the hall/bedroom to the living room.

Behind beautiful glass-framed double mirror doors lies the apartment’s only bedroom.

The bedroom faces the quiet courtyard, and the two large south-facing windows bring plenty of natural light into the bedroom and the kitchen (thanks to the glass doors).

The bedroom is painted in a soft blue-green shade paired with earthy-colored textiles. I love the various patterns and colors in the bedding. The bedroom has wall-mounted cabinets painted in the same color as the walls.

Through an inner hall, you reach the apartment’s living room facing the street. Beautiful wooden floorboards add a warm, natural touch to the space.

Even though the apartment isn’t very big, there is enough space for a seating area and a dining table (or a home office).

The apartment has a luxurious bathroom with walls that are painted in a water-repellent gray color and Victorian-style black-and-white tiles on the floor.

Behind smoke-colored glass doors hides a tiled shower with large white tiles, and there is a laundry area with open shelves for storage.

In the hallway is a spacious built-in closet with multiple clothes rails, shelves, and drawers.
