A 1920s Swedish House with a Classic Renovated Bathroom and a Lush Garden
In a cozy neighborhood with quiet streets, featuring old villas surrounded by lush gardens south of Stockholm city center, lies this beautiful 1920s villa built in the Swedish national romantic style.
The villa has been carefully maintained and renovated over the last 100 years, creating interior and exterior spaces with historic charm and modern comforts. Fine original details have been preserved, and the later additions (such as the recently created family bathroom) are designed in a style that matches the original building.

A graveled driveway leads you to the villa’s front door. The exterior is painted in an off-white and green color scheme that matches beautifully with the trees surrounding the house.

Entry to the house is via a glass veranda that opens into a spacious central hall, from which you can reach the kitchen and the living room.

The living room features large windows facing east and south, and light also flows in from the adjoining dining room, thanks to the ground floor’s open layout.

The walls in the living room are painted in a pleasant gray hue paired with an oak parquet floor with Dutch joints. A built-in bookcase in one corner adds plenty of storage space.

The reading nook by the windows features the 1960s Ateljé Lyktan Bumling floor lamp designed by Anders Pehrson.

From the living room, you move into the house’s dining room, which has the sitting room on one side and the kitchen on the other, making it the central point on the ground floor.

The room features a log burner in the corner, creating a warm atmosphere in the winter and the evenings.

The room features light beige tongue-and-groove paneling, topped with a reproduction of a 19th-century wallpaper found during the restoration of Hudiksvall’s theater.Â

The dining room also opens up to an outdoor terrace, perfect for summer days.

The kitchen is a design by Canada Köket and features light gray cabinet doors, a granite countertop, classic white backsplash tiles, and a stainless steel sink with a Quooker tap.

A gray-painted wooden staircase leads you to the upper floor.

The upper floor hall is painted in a rust-red color paired with an oak parquet floor.

Last year, the upstairs veranda was transformed into a magnificent family bathroom featuring four windows in three directions.

The bathroom is designed in a classic style, matching the house’s building period. It features a freestanding bath and separate shower, as well as a heated towel rail, toilet, vanity unit, tall cabinet, and beautiful lighting fixtures.Â

The walls are painted in a soft pink hue paired with classic white tilework and a red-and-white checkerboard floor with underfloor heating.

The first floor also features three bedrooms (which were unfortunately not pictured).

The veranda on the ground floor is now the entry hall, featuring built-in cabinets with a bench, gray paneled walls, and an oak parquet floor.

The wonderful garden features several seating areas, meaning you can follow the sun throughout the day.

The garden features several areas for a vegetable garden as well as an old apple tree.

The garden features a nice selection of flowers and plants, such as honey roses and perennials such as peonies, bridal veils, coneflowers, and border nepeta around a pine tree.
