IKEA Launches KRONÖREN: A New Solid Pine Storage Series
Today, IKEA has launched the new storage series KRONÖREN, a new collection in solid pine that builds on the Scandinavian furniture tradition with a modern, airy expression.
The KRONÖREN furniture series is simple in design and made of natural materials that will only become more beautiful in time. It consists of three products: an open wardrobe, a dresser with two drawers, and a bedside table.
The series is designed by Nike Karlsson, who is known for his timeless and functional design language and for being behind the popular rattan cabinet from IKEA’s iconic STOCKHOLM collection.
“When I designed KRONÖREN, I was guided by simplicity and the motto ‘less is more.’ The idea was to create a piece of furniture with lasting quality and design, while keeping the price low.
It was an inspiring challenge that required creative innovation. The near, clean expression is the result of the care that has been put into every detail. For me, KRONÖREN is proof that beauty is often found in simplicity,” says IKEA designer Nike Karlsson.
Scandinavian Roots and Modern Lightness
With KRONÖREN, designer Nike Karlsson has created a series where the material is allowed to speak for itself. The simple design language and untreated wood give the furniture a light, natural expression, making it easy to combine with many different furniture and styles.
A Natural Material that Evolves with the Home
All furniture in the KRONÖREN series is made of solid pine, a durable natural material that gains more character over time.
The grain patterns and structure make each piece unique, and over the years, the wood develops a natural patina that reflects the life lived around it.
The untreated wood also gives you the opportunity to put your own touch on the furniture. The surface can be treated with oil or wood paint for extra durability and easy maintenance, or for a more personal expression.
Functional Storage for Everyday Life
KRONÖREN is designed for everyday needs. The clothes rack provides an easy overview of your wardrobe and creates an airy look in the room.
Both ends of the clothes rack function as hooks, perfect for longer clothes and bags.
The chest of drawers with two drawers is ideal for smaller storage spaces where order and simplicity are the focus.
Made of solid wood that can be sanded, oiled, varnished, stained, or painted. This makes the chest of drawers durable, easy to maintain, and possible to renovate so that it can be used again whenever you want.
Drawer stops prevent the drawer from being pulled out too far. You can use smaller boxes to organize your drawers and make sure even the smallest items are easy to find.
The bedside table is designed for smaller storage. Small items can be hidden away in the drawer, while favorite books, lamps, or personal items can be placed on top.
