Striped Wallpaper and 1930s Character in a Swedish Apartment

Located on the ground floor with a private patio terrace in the courtyard, this charming two-bedroom apartment of 91 square meters feels more like a small townhouse than an apartment.

The home is located in a building from 1934, and many original elements have been preserved, such as cast-iron radiators, herringbone parquet floors, stucco, doors, and mouth-blown glass. All these elements add a cozy vibe to the apartment.

The inner hall between the children’s room and the main hall is used as the cloakroom with a built-in cabinet, wall hooks, and a nice striped wallpaper that continues into the main hall.

The hall divides the apartment into two, with the living room and kids’ bedroom on the left and the kitchen and master bedroom on the right.

It also features a site-built bookcase painted in a muted gray hue that pairs nicely with the striped wallpaper and the herringbone parquet floor.

The kitchen is the apartment’s natural gathering space, especially in the warmer months when the doors leading to the patio are opened, and the space is almost double in size.

The kitchen has been continuously updated over the years with new doors, fittings, kitchen counter, and tilework as well as new appliances.

Cabinets run along two walls with a wooden island in the center, perfectly for prepping food. The Moroccan-style tiles on the floor add a nice pattern to the muted-colored space.

A cozy dining area is fitted in the nook with a wooden bar table, a built-in bench, and stools.

The master bedroom also faces the quiet courtyard. The dark hue on the wall turns the room into a calming cocoon, while the String shelving around the bed adds storage space.
