A Mediterranean-Style deVOL Kitchen with Powder Blue Accents in North London

A favorite holiday destination became the starting point when designing this room. Rather than recreating a specific hotel or villa, the idea was to capture the atmosphere that made the place memorable.

The room itself provided the perfect foundation. Generous proportions, a tall beamed ceiling, and plenty of natural light created an open, airy setting, while the powdery blue paint on the ceiling, door, and window frames adds a subtle coastal note.

Views of the garden strengthened the connection to the outdoors and added to the room’s calm, holiday-like character.

The kitchen layout was kept deliberately uncomplicated. One long run of deVOL’s Shaker cupboards contains everything needed for cooking, including a large fluted ceramic sink and integrated appliances such as a dishwasher and an oven.

Painted in the warm, understated shade “Quaker Cream” and topped with cool marble, the cabinetry feels timeless and quietly elegant. The neutral palette also allows the architecture and decorative finishes to take center stage.

At the end of the run, the large refrigerator and pantry cupboard have been grouped together to create a neat and orderly finish.

Brass ventilation grills add a decorative touch without making the cabinetry feel overly elaborate. Keeping the main functions along a single wall also preserved the room’s spacious atmosphere.

Although the fitted cabinetry is streamlined, the room never feels too polished. The homeowners sourced a vintage island, a large wooden dining table, and a glazed dresser, bringing age, texture, and a personal touch to the space.

This mix of old and new gives the kitchen a more lived-in quality. It also transforms the room into something far more than just a cooking space.

The island provides an informal place to gather, the dining table encourages long meals with friends and family, and the dressers offer storage and an opportunity to display favorite ceramics and glassware.

Patterned tiles from Milagros run along the entire length of the cabinetry, adding color and reinforcing the Mediterranean influence.

Instead of using tiles only as a small backsplash behind the sink or stove, the owners committed to a larger tiled area, turning a practical feature into a statement piece.
