Dulux (Flexa in some countries) has revealed Soulful Sage™ as its Color of the Year for 2027. Soft, silvery, and quietly uplifting, the ethereal green reflects a growing desire for interiors that feel lighter, calmer, and more restorative.

“Our 2027 Color of the Year is all about creating lighter spaces for a lighter life,” says Heleen van Gent, Creative Director of AkzoNobel’s Global Aesthetic Center. “Many people are feeling weighed down by world events and overloaded with information. We want to offer consumers a way to create a lighter environment so they can feel that weight lifted off their shoulders.”
The shade is gentle enough to function as a neutral but has more depth and character than a conventional grey, white, or beige. Its understated green tone connects the interior with nature, while its silvery quality gives rooms a fresh and airy appearance.
This versatility makes Soulful Sage suitable for everything from restful bedrooms and welcoming living spaces to kitchens, home offices, and more expressive interiors.
Three Ways to Use Soulful Sage
Soulful Sage sits at the center of three carefully curated color stories: Glow, Light, and Lift. Each palette interprets the overarching theme of lightness in a slightly different way, offering options for warm, calming or uplifting interiors.
“Glow is focused on earth tones to create a warm space, Light combines quiet, pale tones and darker shades for more of a healing space, while Lift features positive tones that evoke the joy of an inspiring space,” explains van Gent. “And at the center of it all is Soulful Sage, the ultimate versatile green.”

The Glow palette brings Soulful Sage together with soft, familiar earth tones. Designed to make a room feel comforting and lived-in, the colors create a warm backdrop for natural materials, tactile fabrics and handcrafted pieces.

AkzoNobel’s (Dulux and Flexa’s parent company) Color of the Year is informed by the company’s annual ColourFutures trend forecast meeting. The process brings together in-house specialists, international architects, designers and journalists to explore how social and cultural changes influence the colors people choose for their surroundings.
The 2027 collection extends beyond decorative paint. Its colors, textures and special effects have also been developed for industries including architecture, automotive design, aerospace, consumer electronics, furniture, lighting, cabinetry, flooring and building products.
Across these different applications, Soulful Sage carries the same central message: color can help spaces feel less demanding and more uplifting. Neither overly cool nor overtly colorful, this adaptable green offers a gentle way to bring freshness, comfort and a sense of optimism into everyday life.
