A 1940s House with Painted Floorboards in Sweden
In a residential area in southern Stockolm stands this wonderful 1940s villa with an open floorplan, painted floorboards, and three bedrooms. In this well-maintained and tastefully renovated midcentury villa, preserved 1940s charm meets a modern sense of style.
The ground floor is a social space where the living room, dining room, and kitchen are united in a circular floor plan. Each room has a corner position so the spaces are wonderfully light thanks to windows on two sides.
Usually, color is added by painted walls or colorful furniture and decor. In this villa, the entire ground floor features gray-blue painted floorboards.
The living room and dining room are united in an open and airy floor plan with windows in three directions and doors leading to the seating area outside. In the evening, the fireplace can be lit for a cozy atmosphere.
String shelves have been added to the wall to add plenty of storage space.
From the dining room, a passage with two built-in original cabinets leads into the kitchen, which also has access from the living room and hallway.
The space in front of the windows has been turned into a lovely dining area with a round table and a window seat made from kitchen cabinets.
The kitchen is designed in a simple but striking style with white cabinets paired with Carrera marble worktops, leather handles, and white tiles all the way to the ceiling.
The floorboards on the first floor are painted in a neutral gray tone. But the master bedroom does have color accents in the red nightlamps and blue built in wardrobes.
The style of the bathroom matches the kitchen with classic white tiles on the walls and Carrera marble on the floor.
The garden features several seating areas, including a dining spot under the pergola.
