A Charming One-Bedroom Apartment in a 1920s Building
On the ground floor of a charming 1920s apartment building in Stockholm, we find this lovely one-bedroom apartment with a social open-plan living space, a tiny bedroom, and large windows facing the green courtyard.
The charm of the 1920s is visible, with beautiful creaking floorboards, large windows, and deep window sills that bring in plenty of natural light. The kitchen was recently renovated in a classic style that suits the historical feeling extremely well.
Three large barred windows that can be fully opened flood the living area with natural light and connect the apartment with the green and social courtyard.
The living room is a charming space with light wooden floorboards and bookshelves fitted in the small niche. The walls are painted in a calm and pleasant blue-gray shade, with the upper part painted white, accentuating the high ceilings.
The living area is designed in a semi-open floor plan with a large dining table made from steel and wood sitting in between the sitting room and the kitchen.
The table is placed in front of the windows with a bench on one side, creating lots of seating space for large dinner parties while also being able to enjoy the courtyard.
The kitchen perfectly blends newer cabinets with a built-in pantry, a tall serving cabinet, and a beautiful original display cabinet preserved from the 1920s.
The kitchen was renovated four years ago, pairing classic white cabinets with a dark oak countertop and classic white tiles that go up to the ceiling. I love the glass-fronted cabinets above the workspace with the display shelf underneath.
When the windows are fully opened, you can turn one of the deep window sills into a window seat and enjoy the trees and other greenery in the courtyard.
From the living room, you can enter the apartment’s tiny bedroom that is just wide enough for a 160cm bed. The dark gray walls are paired with orange textiles, pairing colder and warm tones beautifully.
The apartment’s hall is pretty spacious, and it has been fitted with double high wardrobes. The walls are painted in the same gray-blue shade as the living area.
