A Blue Studio Apartment with Unique Stucco and Site-Built Storage
Today, we are revisiting one of the finest studio apartments I have ever seen. This 34 square meter studio apartment lies on the first floor of a turn-of-the-century apartment complex in the Swedish city of Gothenburg.
You can rightly call this studio apartment luxurious. The small home features original elements like fine stucco, moldings, large windows, and high ceilings, which are paired with contemporary design solutions, creating the perfect balance between old and new.
The apartment was fully renovated a couple of years ago, pairing the spectacular original elements with new elements in a classic style, like a herringbone parquet floor, built-in wardrobes, and a site-built hand-painted kitchen.
The kitchen is made of IKEA cabinets combined with light gray doors made in a carpentry shop. The classic light gray cabinets are paired with black knobs, a limestone countertop from Thorsberg Stenhuggeri, and porcelain sockets from Fontini.
The studio’s ceiling is adorned with fabulous decorations, stucco, and rosettes, and two tall, rounded windows with deep window niches bring in plenty of natural light.
The walls are painted in Jotun’s “SkuggblÃ¥” color, a warm blue color with gray and red undertones.
The studio apartment has a perfect layout with a spacious room for cooking, dining, and lounging, and a separate sleeping niche.
The room has three built-in wardrobes with beautiful brass fittings from Sekelskifte, painted in the same color as the walls.
The sleeping alcove is big enough for a double bed, and the walls are painted in the same color as the rest of the room. Even though the ceiling height is 3.3 meters, the sleeping alcove feels very cozy.
A patinated old mirror door gives access to the apartment’s bathroom.
The bathroom is stylish and practical. The walls are fully tiled with square white tiles and white grout, while the floor is decorated with gray hexagon-shaped tiles. The ceiling has been painted black, contrasting nicely with the white tiles on the walls.
The niche has been fitted with a custom-built cabinet with glass-framed doors.
The shower has both a hand shower and a ceiling filter in beautiful untreated brass.
The apartment was listed for sale at Alvhem.
The decor hasn’t changed too much from when it was put on the market the last time in 2022, but you can see that home tour by clicking here.
