A Calm & Stylish Color Palette in a Small London Apartment
On the first floor of Brune House in Spitalfields, London lies this charming one-bedroom apartment decorated in green tones. The 471-square-foot apartment was carefully renovated in collaboration with Studio Faeger, making clever use of color and materials.
The apartment is small, but large sash windows create light spaces. The hallway opens into a semi-open kitchen and the living room beyond. From the living room, you can access the apartment’s only bedroom. The living room and bedroom have lovely views of the well-planted communal garden.
At the end of the hall, you enter the living room with large windows offering views of pink cherry blossom trees in the spring.
The walls, skirting boards, door surrounds, and built-in shelves are painted in ‘Oval Room Blue’ by Farrow and Ball. This chalky blue shade pairs wonderfully with the green zellige tiles around the wood burner.
By placing the sofa with the back in the center of the room, the owners created a little nook, used as a home office with a lovely gallery wall.
The built-in cupboards with reclaimed Victorian doors hide the washing machine and drying space.
The first room you come across when you enter the home is this U-shaped kitchen. The walls are painted in ‘Skimming Stone’ by Farrow and Ball, and the lower cabinets are painted in ‘Green Smoke’.
A heavy butler sink is positioned under a casement window. Brass knobs and fittings complement the classic kitchen style beautifully.
The bedroom is a wonderful calm space with walls painted in complementary shades of ‘Bone’ and ‘London Clay’. The large windows flow the room with light and they are paired with reclaimed pine sills.
The bedroom is fitted with built-in wardrobes painted in ‘Card Room Green’, featuring cut-out detailing and brass knobs.
The small bathroom is painted in ‘Green Smoke’ and features storage behind a mirror cabinet.
The apartment is listed for sale at The Modern House.
