A Colorful 1950s Apartment with the Original Kitchen
On a small cul-de-sac in Stockholm stands a typical 1950s apartment building with large windows and a beige brick facade. On the first floor of this building lies this charming one-bedroom apartment featuring colorful decor and the original 50s kitchen.
The 58-square-meter apartment has generously sized rooms with plenty of furnishing options, as well as built-in storage that keeps the rooms tidy. The rooms have a light, neutral base, but they are decorated with plenty of color in the furnishings and decor, creating fun, inviting spaces with beautiful 1950s period elements.

From the hall, glazed double doors lead into the spacious living room with a west-facing balcony.

The walls are painted in a pale pink shade paired with a classic oak parquet floor. This serves as the perfect calm base for the colorful furniture and decor.

The classic Bruno Mathsson chair is upholstered with a wool fabric from Johnstons of Elgin, from their collaboration with Ben Pentreath.

The blue OMHU Teddy sofa pairs nicely with the light pink walls. On the midcentury coffee tables stands a blue candlestick holder from the latest IKEA Gustaf Westman collection.

The original glass doors give access to the living room, allowing natural light to flow through the apartment and making it feel larger than its 58 square meters.

The kitchen takes us back to the 1950s with the original cabinets, including the nice slanted upper cabinets. The cream-colored cabinets are paired with a stainless steel and wood countertop.

Of course, there is also color in the kitchen with walls painted in a light peach hue and a dark green accent wall. A round table sits nicely in front of the window overlooking the surrounding trees. There is even a shelf in front of the window for plants or herbs.

The spacious and light bedroom also overlooks the trees outside. The light gray walls are paired with a peach-and-green color accent above the bed, as well as vibrant bedding and art. One wall is fitted with the original built-in wardrobes.

The bathroom is decorated in a blue-and-white scheme, with light-blue bathroom porcelain and blue-and-white tilework. The colorful shower curtain and the Italian retro cabinet from the 60s add even more color to the space.

The apartment is listed for sale at Historiska Hem.
