A Colorful Home with a Gold Extension in North London
On a street with Victorian terrace houses with box-bay windows and stucco dressings in North London lies this renovated home with colorful interiors and a TECU gold-clad extension.
The house was reimagined by James Dale Architects, adding a new layout and turning the small and run-down interior spaces into colorful rooms with an open-plan kitchen and dining room in the back.
We start the tour in the new extension housing the open-plan kitchen, dining room, and winter garden. The kitchen sits at the center of the plan, defined by blue floor tiles. Teal blue cabinets are paired with a Corian countertop and white hexagon backsplash tiles.
The winter garden is located at the back of the plan. It has a pitched roof and a skylight. Large glass doors open into the garden, which has multiple seating areas.
Large picture windows and a skylight turn this space into a bright and welcoming area with a great connection to the outdoors.
On the other side of the kitchen they created a wonderful dining space with a green table and a large window facing the side garden.
There are two sitting rooms in the old Victorian part of the house. The front room has a large box-bay window and is painted in Little Greene’s ‘Mazarine‘. The niches next to the former fireplace are fitted with bookshelves painted in the same color.
The second sitting room is centered around a restored 1930s fireplace with mustard and green-colored tiles and a Venetian plaster backdrop.
This room has a large glass door that gives access to the side garden.
The master bedroom is located at the front of the house and also includes a large box-bay window. The walls are painted in a cheerful pink shade from Lick.
The second double bedroom is painted in a warm ochre yellow shade, mimicking the color of the new extension, and decorated with plants.
The woodwork on the first-floor landing is painted in Little Greene’s ‘Drummond‘.
There are two smaller rooms on the first floor. The first, with salmon pink and blue walls, is turned into a craft room, and the second is a home office with orange cabinets.
The house is listed for £860,000 at The Modern House.
