Colorful Rooms and Period Features in a London Terrace House
Are you ready for colorful interior inspiration? This end-of-terrace house in the London area of Catford is filled with colorful walls, furniture, and home accessories. The ground floor of the three-bedroom Victorian house has an open floorplan, but thanks to the use of color, each room has its own character.
Besides creating a wonderful color palette with bold paints and colorful textiles, the owners also beautifully paired the historic Victorian features with contemporary elements, such as an extended kitchen with a skylight. This combination of old and new, calm and bright colors, turn this historic home into a unique personal space.
The semi-open entryway leads to the double living room, which has a large bay window with white shutters at the front. The front room is centered around a beautiful fireplace with a white mantel and checkerboard tiles.
The double sitting room is painted in a calm pink shade, which is paired with bold green and blue color accents using colors from Lick.
The fireplace in the back room is fitted with the same black and white tiles as the working fireplace in the front room. Bold green-painted bookcases flank this former fireplace.
There is a small room between the double living room and the kitchen. Now used as a music room, it can be closed off with a glass French door. The walls are painted in Farrow and Ball’s ‘Red Earth’.
At the back of the plan, using the full width of the house, lies the bright kitchen that has been extended with a pitched ceiling to maximize space and light.
The u-shaped kitchen is made from ply and white quartz worktops and offers plenty of working space. This room is less colorful than the living rooms, but the owners added color pops with the tiles behind the stove and in the accessories.
The kitchen space features a dining area with bespoke wraparound banquet seating by Colours of Arley, featuring signature bold striped cushions.
On the first floor, the original Victorian floorboards have been restored, adding a lot of historic character to the three bedrooms. The master bedroom is color-drenched in Little Greene’s ‘Pompeian Ash’ with ‘Studio Green‘ skirting.
On the first floor is a small shower room with blush-toned Fired Earth floor tiles, narrow vertical wall tiles, and brass fittings. A larger bathroom is located on the ground floor with blue floor tles and a bath.
A lovely garden surrounded by mature trees lies at the back of the house. A black-cladded garden house with yellow windows and a small graveled bistro seating area stands at the back of the garden.
The house’s sunny yellow front door is painted in Farrow and Ball’s ‘Babouche’.
The house is listed for £730,000 at Inigo.
