Gray Tones and a Classic Kitchen in a Swedish Apartment
This spacious two-bedroom apartment lies on the top floor of an early 20th-century apartment building in Gothenburg. The 90 square-meter apartment was recently renovated, adding a new, stylish kitchen and painting all rooms in various gray hues.
On one side, the apartment is wrapped around the central staircase, meaning the kitchen and the smallest bedroom have charming rounded walls. The gray tones on the walls are paired with white-pigmented wooden floorboards, and the living room and bedroom have a traditional Swedish fireplace.

The living room has two large windows overlooking a small part at the front of the building. It also floods the living area with natural light.
In the corner of the room stands the original rounded fireplace, adding character and warmth to the living room.
In the corner of the room stands a round dining table topped with the Drop Bulb chandelier by 101 Copenhagen.
Double wooden doors separate the living room from the bedroom. Having the living room and the master bedroom in a row (divided by wooden doors) is a common layout in these older Swedish apartments.
The spacious bedroom also has two large windows facing the park. Original elements like the wooden floor, a ceiling rose, a fireplace, and deep window niches show the history of the apartment.
The walls in the bedroom are painted in Jotun’s “Gray Slate”.
A simple home office has been created in the corner of the apartment, using a white desk and a shelf.
The bedroom can also be accessed via the hall. In the hall, there is also a door leading to a dressing room.
The kitchen was renovated a couple of years ago in a style that matches the original architecture of the apartment. The classic gray cabinets are paired with brass knobs and fittings and a Carrara marble countertop and backsplash.
From the kitchen, you can access a lovely courtyard balcony.
A vintage wooden folding table and wishbone chairs create an intimate dining area in the kitchen. There is an open layout between the kitchen and hall, adding a wonderful sense of space.
The second bedroom is now a cozy children’s room with walls painted in Jotun’s “Antique Gray” and built-in wardrobes with brass knobs painted in the same color.
This room and the kitchen have a lovely rounded wall from the communal staircase.
The old doorway that used to lead to the master bedroom has been turned into built-in bookshelves.
The bathroom is small and smartly planned with storage niches and shelves. The white wall tiles and hexagon floor tiles are classic and timeless.
The hall is painted in Jotun’s “Vallmofrö” and pairs Moroccan floor tiles with the original wooden floorboards.
