Gray Walls in a Renovated 19th-Century Gothenburg Apartment
This light, one-bedroom apartment lies on the top floor of a late 19th-century building in Gothenburg. The 58-square-meter apartment is wonderfully light thanks to large windows and open doorways, which let light flow nicely through all interior spaces.
The entire apartment is decorated in a typical Scandinavian style with light gray walls and contemporary furnishings paired with original 19th-century elements like high skirting boards, mirror doors, and custom-built window sills.

When you enter the home, you stand in a spacious hall with the kitchen on one side and the living room and bedroom on the other. Two large windows let natural light flow into the living area.

Even though the interiors are mainly modern, the living room features period details like original pine floorboards, high skirting boards, custom-made window sills, and fine linings around doors and windows.

The entry to the living room and the kitchen are in line, and with the open doorways, light flows through the apartment while also creating a social layout.

An original wooden door separates the bedroom and the living room.

The same color scheme continues into the bedroom with walls painted in a matt gray shade paired with lighter colored textiles.

This room also has two large windows, creating a light atmosphere.

One wall is fitted with wardrobes, hooks, and a dresser. There is also a spacious built-in wardrobe in the hall, so the apartment has plenty of storage space.

The kitchen is newly renovated. Contemporary gray cabinets are paired with a gray-melted granite countertop and white backsplash tiles with gray grout.

There is plenty of room for a large dining table. I love these rustic wooden folding table you often see in Scandinavian homes.

The classic gray kitchen cabinets are topped with a porcelain sink and an old-fashioned kitchen faucet from Strand in the “Strand Retro” model.

One wall in the hallway is decorated with the William Morris Pimpernel wallpaper.

The walls in the hall are painted in antique gray, and the floor is adorned with a tile floor from Marrakech called “Voltaire Autumn II”.

The spacious hall with shelves, hooks, and benches also includes a large built-in closet.
The apartment was listed for sale at Nya Kvadrat.
