A Green Classic English deVOL Kitchen in a Restored Georgian House
Today, I am pleased to share this beautiful deVOL project with you. The kitchen is located in a Georgian house in Blackheath, one of London’s most desirable places to live. The owners of this deVOL kitchen in a Georgian home spent the last three years reinstating the original grandeur of this old house, and the result is magnificent.
One of the things the owners did during the kitchen renovation was reinstating the intricate coving and employing a local decorative artist to hand-paint and distress the walls to recreate a perfectly imperfect, plaster-like finish.
This beautiful wall finish is paired with a brand new deVOL kitchen, which suits the house’s historic bones beautifully. This room was built for a kitchen like this.

The brief for this space was to design a kitchen with plenty of storage. There would be no glass or shelves but closed cabinets that would keep everything close at hand and keep the room clutter-free.
For the kitchen design, they choose deVOL’s Classic English cupboard range paired with the stunning Dairy Table with a Carrara marble top as a kitchen island.
The classic kitchen cabinets are painted in deVOL’s own “Bakehouse Green” shade, which is a classic color that suits this historic space beautifully. But what makes this kitchen extra unique are the copper countertops atop the Classic English cupboards.
The copper countertops are hand-aged in deVOL’s metal studio. They created two full-length runs, one with a seamlessly integrated double bowl copper sink and a hammered draining board and one that continued up the wall behind the cooker to create a splashback.
The simple aged brass rail above the range cooker is the only open storage space in the kitchen.
The Dairy Table in the center, from deVOL’s Heirloom collection, adds a social element to the kitchen space. As the kitchen is so wide, they could add bar stools so you can cook and socialize at the same time.
