A Green Kitchen, Period Elements, and Jotun Colors in a Small Corner Apartment
On the second floor of a listed late 19th-century apartment building in the popular Linné area in Gothenburg, lies this charming renovated corner apartment where period elements and smart, custom-built storage turn the home into something special.
The 45-square-meter apartment was fully renovated in 2025, and every detail is well thought out and matches the turn-of-the-century architecture. The corner location makes this home even more special. The living room has beautiful, large windows in the rounded wall, giving wonderful views of the historic street.

The softly rounded corner with three large windows is the highlight of the living room (and perhaps the entire apartment). Thanks to the corner position, light flows in from multiple directions, and the views add a sense of space.

The living room features the original, freshly sanded, and white-pigmented wooden floors. The walls are painted in Jotun’s “Soft Touch,” which makes the period stucco and high baseboards stand out beautifully.

Because there is only one entrance to the living room, there is more flexibility in furnishing it. There is enough space for a comfortable seating area and a large dining table. IKEA Ivar cabinets add a natural touch to the space.

The built-in wardrobes in the corner are painted in Jotun’s “Sand,” and feature profiled doors that suit the original building style.

The kitchen is located in the center of the home. Built on-site, the kitchen is designed in a style that was inspired by the turn-of-the-century style with profiled doors and carefully selected details.

The kitchen cabinets are painted in a charming lime blossom green color (“Laurel Tree” by Jotun) and paired with a granite countertop (Verde Savana) and pearl tongue-and-groove paneling.

There are kitchen cabinets and workspaces on multiple sides, creating a dynamic and practical space. The walls are painted in Jotun’s “Sans,” a neutral hue that lets the kitchen and period element take center stage.

During the renovation, the room was divided into two, creating a separate bedroom. An old window has been installed in the wall, allowing natural light from the bedroom window to flow into the kitchen space.

The bedroom is small but functional. The room is big enough for a double bed (160cm) without losing too much walking space (the entire width is 224cm), and built-in wardrobes provide plenty of storage space. The walls are painted in Jotun’s “Soft Touch.”

Behind the bed, wardrobes have been integrated and painted in Jotun’s “Sand.” Next to the small window, which once belonged to the pantry, a tiny seating nook has been created.

Two former storage spaces in the hall have been transformed into a shower room and a toilet. The shower room is designed in a timeless style with white tiles on the walls and a gray terrazzo floor.

The entry hall is decorated with a jute runner, adding to the natural ambiance you see in the rest of the apartment, a shoe cabinet, and hooks to hang coats and bags.

The apartment is listed for sale at Alvhem.
