This two-bedroom apartment in the Södermalm area of Stockholm blends 1920s period charm with bright spaces and modern functionality in a way that feels personal, fun, and truly like home.

The 77-square-meter apartment is located on a quiet, charming street with typical colorful period buildings and large trees. Inside, the home has been decorated with fresh, light colors on the walls, paired with occasional color pops and 1920s elements such as a fireplace, double doors, and a serving pantry. It’s the best of both worlds.

The apartment’s layout has been modernized over the years. It features a large semi-open living room and kitchen in the center, flanked by two bedrooms.

The classic base of light-colored walls and a dark-stained herringbone floor forms the perfect starting point for the furnishings. Classic pieces are paired with fun elements such as a polkadot rug and a glossy pink coffee table.

The open layout of the hall and the kitchen makes the apartment feel more spacious.

The dark-stained herringbone parquet floor adds warmth to the living room and kitchen, while the walls painted in a white-gray hue (Vitpeppar by Jotun) add a contrasting freshness.

The kitchen features an original green fireplace paired with newer floral tiles on the floor.

The kitchen is made of IKEA cabinets paired with smooth white fronts, white backsplash tiles, and a Carrara marble countertop.

One wall is fitted with floor-to-ceiling cabinets, allowing the workspace to be without upper cabinets, keeping it light and airy.

The second bedroom is painted in a honey-yellow shade and is perfect as a children’s room.
