A Historic Apartment with Classic Wallpapers and Contemporary Furniture
This two-bedroom apartment lies on the second floor of a historic apartment building in Gothenburg. The house was built in 1885 and original elements like stucco, fireplaces, mirror doors, and deep window niches have been preserved.
This apartment has obviously been styled to be put on the market, but I actually quite like the classic (dare I say, slightly kitsch) wallpapers in the living room and the bedroom with the contemporary furniture in a classic light-colored Scandinavian style.

As you see in many old Swedish apartments, the living room and master bedroom are located in a row, separated by double wooden doors.

The living room is spacious and light thanks to two large windows with deep window niches and white shutters.

The wooden floorboards, beautiful stucco, high baseboards, and high ceilings show the history of the apartment beautifully. When the sunlight hits the classic purple wallpaper it adds a nice glinter to the space.

The classical elements are paired with typical contemporary Scandinavian furnishings in muted white and gray tones.

Next to the living room lies the spacious bedroom with the same wallpaper but now in a golden yellow hue.

The wooden doors, window, and fireplace create a cozy and historic ambiance.

On the other side of the apartment, connected with the master bedroom and the kitchen, lies the second bedroom which is now a children’s room.

The large room overlooks the communal courtyard and features an original linen closet in the corner and a traditional Swedish fireplace.

The kitchen is simple with white cabinets, tiles, and floorboards. The place by the window is the perfect spot for a round kitchen table. The kitchen also features a large built-in pantry.
