A 1920s Studio Apartment with a Forest Green Sleeping Alcove
On the second floor of a 1920s apartment building in Stockholm, you will find this charming studio apartment with original elements, a cozy bed niche, and a tiny but practical kitchenette.
The apartment feels larger than its 28 square meters, thanks to a functional layout, high ceilings, and large windows. Besides a practical sleeping alcove, the tiny apartment also has a spacious walk-in wardrobe, so the living spaces do not have to be cluttered up with large storage furniture.

The studio has a charming sitting room with white-painted walls and the original herringbone parquet floor that adds historic character to the space.

The sitting area is large enough for a dining table seating four and a large sofa.

The two doors in the living space lead to the apartment’s bathroom and the spacious walk-in wardrobe.

The apartment has a practical sleeping alcove that is big enough for a double bed.

The sleeping alcove is painted in a dark forest green shade, and shelves and cabinets fitted against the wall provide storage space. The large window with a deep window niche overlooks the quiet communal courtyard.

A curtain has been fitted in the wide opening, so the niche can be hidden from view, creating the feeling of a one-bedroom apartment.

There is no room for a fridge in the kitchenette, so it has been fitted in the tiny hallway with white-painted floorboards. Above, the generous ceiling height is taken advantage of by a deep storage shelf.

The tiny kitchenette is painted in the same dark green hue as the bedroom alcove and the hallway.

The kitchenette was renovated in 2022 and features charming upper cabinets with over-recessed mirror doors that are the original 1920s cabinets. The large windows allow natural light from the alcove window to flow into the kitchen space.

The original cabinets are paired with modern dark lower cabinets, a white laminated countertop, and a black faucet and sink.
