A Charming Historic Stockholm Apartment with a Blue Kitchen
In a late 19th-century building in Södermalm, Stockholm, lies this charming renovated apartment with two bedrooms, warm wooden floorboards, and period features like an original tiled fireplace, high baseboards, and wooden doors.
The entire apartment was renovated in recent years, adding a new kitchen with blue cabinets and a historic feel, as well as a new bathroom with a lovely red and white checkerboard floor. The entire apartment was painted in a beautiful palette of beige, green, and terracotta, creating harmonious and comforting spaces.

The kitchen is the heart of the home. The room invites you to socialize as there is plenty of room for cooking and dining. The owners also created a charming sitting nook by the fireplace.
Double doors lead out to the courtyard balcony, creating the perfect spot for outdoor dining in the warmer months.
The classic kitchen cabinets are painted in a soft blue shade and paired with linseed oil-waxed wooden countertops, brass knobs, and white-painted pearl tongue and groove as the backsplash. This design feels as if this kitchen has always stood in this home from 1888; It is absolutely lovely!
There is plenty of storage space; the island is fitted with various-sized drawers, and one wall is fitted with high cabinets housing the fridge and a small pantry. Even the old doorway is fitted with shelves.
The walls in the kitchen are painted in Jotun’s ‘Ginseng,’ a lovely beige shade that adds a neutral, warm touch to the room.
A large wooden dining table with pastel blue chairs creates a lovely dining spot. When the fireplace is lit, this room is even cozier and perfect for dinner parties.
Two large windows flood the living room with a lovely soft light, creating a warm and charming living area.
The walls in the living room are painted in a light green shade, accentuating the period features like the high baseboards and double wooden doors.
There are mirror doors leading to the hall, the kitchen, and the master bedroom.
The master bedroom is located next to the living room. The small room is painted in a wonderful warm shade called ‘Embrace’ by Jotun. It is a rather fitting name for this color if you ask me.
One wall is fitted with built-in wardrobes, painted the same color as the wall to create a harmonious and calm bedroom look.
The second bedroom is a charming space facing the courtyard. It features a former open pantry that is turned into corner shelves. An antique desk sits under the window, offering views of the rooftops and the sky.
The walls in this children’s bedroom are painted in Jotun’s ‘Ginseng’, and the door, molding, and other joinery are painted with a blue linseed oil paint.
The bathroom was renovated last year. The fresh space features classic white tiles on the wall and a lovely red and beige checkerboard floor, mirroring the checkerboard pattern in the hall.
The hallway is decorated with the ‘Borosan 21’ wallpaper from Boråstapeter. The wooden floorboards are painted in a red and white checkerboard pattern. The classic hat shelf has beautiful brass anchor hooks to hang coats.
