Light-Filled Rooms in a Charming 1907 Swedish Villa
I grew up with holidays in Sweden and reading Swedish children’s books, and I think that’s when the seed was planted to one day maybe move to a charming traditional Swedish countryside home.
And when I browse through Swedish real estate websites, I often come across a traditional Swedish home that fuels my desire to live in this country. Today, I want to share an early 20th-century house that ticks many ‘dream home’ boxes.

Stepping through a charming white gate, you feel like you’re in an Astrid Lindgren story. The red wooden house was built in 1907 and has been carefully extended and rebuilt in the 100 years since, but its historic early 20th-century charm has remained.
The front door opens into this glass veranda/hall space with a built-in bench and built-in wardrobes that store all your outerwear.
This is also a wonderful room to enjoy the sunshine and greenery inside and out.
The entire ground floor has an open floor plan with two sitting areas, a dining room, and a kitchen.
The first room you enter is this charming light sitting room with large windows in two directions, light blue walls, a traditional fireplace, and a large fluffy rug.
The dining room sits in the center of the ground floor plan, with an open connection to the kitchen and flanked by two sitting rooms. The room has a beautiful wood-burning fireplace in the corner, adding a warm atmosphere to the space.
A large round table sits in front of the large window, and a color accent has been added by painting the inside of the bookcases green.
The second sitting room is painted in a warm terracotta shade and has doors leading to the outdoor terraces.
The rooms in the house are very light and this continues into the kitchen where classic white cabinets are paired with white tiles, white floorboards, and a wooden countertop.
An original built-in pantry can be closed off with an ochre yellow curtain.
The staircase and first-floor landing are decorated with the Klöverblad wallpaper designed by Josef Frank.
The master bedroom is a calm space with rustic wooden floorboards, a light color palette, and built-in wardrobes under the slanted ceiling.
There are two more bedrooms on the first floor, both used as children’s rooms, one with striped wallpaper and one painted in a calm gray shade.
The bathroom was recently renovated in a classic style, complementing the house’s original architecture. Victorian-style floor tiles are paired with white zellige tiles on the walls and a freestanding bath.
From the first-floor landing, you can also access this grand roof terrace.
The house is surrounded by a charming garden with lush greenery and multiple seating areas.
The house is listed for sale at Skandi Mäklarna – photography by Samual Uneus.
