A Luxurious Two-Bedroom Maisonette in Primrose Hill
On a beautiful tree-lined street in Primrose Hill stands a row of mid-19th-century townhouses with façades of London stock brick, rusticated stucco, and sash windows. In one of these Victorian terrace houses lies today’s maisonette home.
Interior designer Kerri Lipsitz carefully renovated the apartment using Arabescato marble, unlacquered brass, oak, and reclaimed pine, which complement the 19th-century Victorian architecture.
The cozy sitting room is decorated in a light color palette with warm color accents. The room is centered around a gas fireplace with a pine surround.
The fireplace’s pine surround is made to match the wall of rich, reclaimed pine paneling. Some parts of the wall paneling come from the house’s original window shutters.
A pair of concertina doors separate the living room from the open-plan dining room and kitchen grounded with limestone flags.
The white kitchen is made from solid oak paired with a thick Arabescato marble countertop and backsplash. The shelf, made from the same marble, is decorated with vintage art, adding a personal touch to the room.
The kitchen is also fitted with a deep ceramic butler sink from Shaws and a white electric-powered Aga.
On the other side stand tall aged oak cupboards with reeded glass fronts that provide plenty of storage space.
The apartment has two bedrooms. The smaller room with views of the garden has dark wooden floorboards and walls painted in ‘Slipper Satin’ by Farrow and Ball.
The master bedroom is painted in a soft pink shade called ‘Smoked Trout’ by Farrow and Ball. The room features the original fireplace with floral motif corner blocks.
A beautiful antique dressing table sits in the niche next to the fireplace. The room also has access to a wardrobe room with built-in cabinets made from Sapele wood.
The bathroom is tiled with the Emery & Cie Zellige tiles in ‘Blanc’. The rain-style shower and sink are fitted with Samuel Heath bronze fixtures.
The apartment has a wonderful walled garden where the London bricks are covered in jasmine and climbing ivy to create a lush green backdrop.
The house is listed for £1,850,000 at Inigo.
