Modern Rustic Interiors in an Edwardian House in London
In a popular area of Queens Park in London stands a beautifully refurbished family home with modern rustic interiors and grand rooms. The 3.500 square feet Edwardian home boasts many original elements like stucco and stained glass, but the home is also extended at the back with an extension that opens up to the modern garden.
The current owners brought a little piece of North-Western Africa to England with rustic minimalistic interiors inspired by the design principles originating in the Maghreb region, creating warm and inviting spaces.
The rooms in the historic house are opened up to create a split-level floorplan with large living spaces that are paired together with a beautiful wooden floor and rustic elements.
Walls and doors have been removed to make the rooms feel as big as possible. You can see a subtle division between the front door hallway and the living room. It’s an extra 1.5 meters of living space that otherwise would be lost and barely used in the hallway.
A beautiful tiled fireplace flanked by built-in shelves is the centerpiece of the living room. A large checkerboard rug ties the sitting area together.
The split level floorplan creates clear separate and private spaces while maintaining a spacious and open feeling.
A few steps down from the living room, you enter the grand extended kitchen. In the front area, the owners created a cooking space with a dark blue kitchen complimented by arabescato marble worktops.
In the corner, they added a breakfast nook with custom built-in seating and a round table.
Large skylights in the slanted rustic wooden ceiling flood the kitchen with natural light.
Two steps down, you enter the formal dining space that is decorated in a modern, rustic look with a wooden ceiling as the most prominent feature.
Large skylights and Crittal windows that open up to the garden turn this back room into a light space with a connection to nature.
In the basement they created a cozy home cinema and a spare bedroom.
The master suite is located at the front of the house. It features rustic wooden floorboards paired with earthy color accents. a freestanding bath in front of the window invites you to a long soak after a long day.
The marble en suite bathroom can be accessed through the archway.
The stylish bathroom has a walk-in shower, and it is also a walk-in closet.
The first-floor landing between the two bedrooms has been fitted with built-in bunk beds that are painted in a warm pink shade.
The house features a modern, landscaped garden that can be accessed from the open-plan kitchen and dining room.
The house is for sale at Camerons Stiff & Co.
